MOUNTAIN FLIGHT in NEPAL
This is the experiential popular activity in Nepal which we would recommend that you must do if you visit in Nepal. The experience is unparalleled in beauty. Unless you're absolutely terrified of heights, enter this in your bucket list.
This activity is well suited to all travelers, young and old. Especially useful if you're running on a short trip due to the tight schedule and thus cannot indulge on a nice multi-day trek in Nepal to get those serene Himalayan views. In about an hour of flight, you will come as close as a few hundred meters of the mighty Greater Himalayan Range. We think that that's a pretty good trade off.

MOUNTAIN FLIGHT DETAIL
Leave Kathmandu in the morning after an early breakfast to board the flight (Buddha Air or Yeti Air, the choice is yours)
The flight is one hour long and you will be within the range of the Himalayas within minutes.
Usually, the first peak that you will see will be Mt. Gosaithan (also known as Shisha Pangma in the local dialect). This peak stands at about eight thousand meters above sea level.
Next, you will see Mt. Dorje Lakpa at about seven thousand meters above sea level. Interestingly, this mountain looks like a snow-clad figure of "8" aligned on the horizontal plane.
Next, you will see Mt. Phurbi Ghyachu. This mountain can also be viewed from Kathmandu valley.
Next, you will see the unconquered Mt. Choba Bhamare which stands tall at around six thousand meters above sea level.
The peak that you will see next, Mt. Gauri Shankar holds tremendous significance in the Hindu religion. We have included a photos of this peak in in the gallery in this page and you will notice that this peak has a noticeably sharp point. Accordingly to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is said to be the protector.
As the plane moves eastwards, you will encounter Mt. Melungtse (a slight flattish peak, 7023 meters above sea level), Mt. Chugimago (yet to be conquered by a climber), Mt. Numbur (a mountain that has a lot of religious significance to the local Sherpa people of Solukhumbu), Mt. Karyolung (with a noticeably thick blanket of snow over it), Mt. Gyachungkhang, the majestic Mt. Cho Oyu (the eight highest peak in the world), Mt. Nuptse (literally means the West Peak in the local dialect) and Mt. Pumori before you finally come face to face with the mighty Everest.
The Everest is better known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan. You have read a great deal about the Mt. Everest so far, seen a great many pictures and videos of it on Youtube, but take our word for it - to see it in person is an overwhelming experience.
The plane's seating is arranged in two columns, thus each passenger is guaranteed a window seat. You can also visit the cockpit during the flight to take pictures.
